|Help me find a cure for arthritis!|
|Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the United States, affecting one in every four adults! Just in the state of Michigan, more than 2.3 million adults have been diagnosed with arthritis and over 10,000 children live with arthritis or one of its related diseases. |
I am honored to be the Detroit Jingle Bell Run medical honoree this year because as an orthopedic surgeon, I see arthritis every day in my office. Arthritis doesn’t care how old you are, what your nationality is, or your race. It affects everyone, and it is one of the most difficult things to treat. I have seen arthritis claim countless athletic careers, whether they be professional, collegiate or weekend warriors. I have seen people’s lives change without being able to do simple things as walk up stairs or even play with their kids in the back yard.
That is where the Arthritis Foundation comes in. As a national non-profit organization, its sole purpose is finding a cure for arthritis and giving people the hope of living without joint pain. I have taken a keen interest in cartilage disorders and feel that the research I am doing goes hand in hand with the mission of the Arthritis Foundation.
As an assistant professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and in teaching the residents and fellows at William Beaumont Department of Orthopedics, we are involved in multiple national cartilage regeneration trials. We perform the latest cartilage restoration techniques from stem cell treatment to growing and implanting your own cartilage cells!
I would like to thank the Arthritis Foundation for asking me to be the Jingle Bell Run medical honoree this year! I will do my best to help raise funds for this important cause. I have been tasked with raising $10,000 for the event. Please help me reach our goal and help find a cure for arthritis!
