|Help me find a cure for arthritis! For our Julia and many other kids and adults affected by arthritis.|
|When Julia was about 20 months old she woke up one morning and refused to walk. After many different doctors and tests we discovered she had Juvenile Arthritis, an autoimmune disease for which there is no cure. First limited to her knees, the arthritis later spread to one elbow, one wrist, and an ankle. She has had multiple steroid injections and has two shots weekly as well as daily medicines that she takes. Finally this summer the right medication combo led to Julia being in medicated remission--meaning she has no active arthritis. If she can stay arthritis-free for a year, we can begin to wean her off her meds and hope and pray the arthritis stays away for a least a few years and hopefully longer. See, even though she is in remission, the chances of the arthritis returning through out her life time are high. We don't know yet how this will impact her daily life growing up, but we are treasuring her ability to run without a limp and to actually jump for the first time in her life, thanks to the meds and her physical therapy. This holiday season, we are participating in the Arthritis Foundationís 5K Jingle Bell Run to raise funds to help the Arthritis Foundation search for a cure for arthritis. Please join us or donate to support the Arthritis Foundationís important work to find a cure. Thanks very much!!!|
