Remember - Kids get Arthritis too!

For the third year now, Team FA LA LA will be walking, laughing and jingling our way through the Annual Long Island Jingle Bell Run. As our team grows every year, we know we’re going to have even more fun and raise more money for the Arthritis Foundation - a cause that means so much to our family.
But this year, we’re especially proud that Lauren was selected as the Youth Honoree for the Long Island Jingle Bell Run!
Lauren considers herself to be many things. With two brothers, she’s both a little sister and a big sister. She’s also a soccer player, cheerleader, baseball player, artist, dancer and a friend to name just a few. Lauren sees herself in many ways, however a child suffering from arthritis is not one of them. She’s feels and acts just as her family sees her - as a smart, funny and caring little girl who shows great strength as she manages her juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Diagnosed with systemic JIA in 2015, Lauren’s calm, down-to-earth nature impressed many doctors during the countless appointments and constant tests necessary to determine the cause of her pain and swelling in multiple joints. Lauren's matter-of-fact attitude aided the process of finding the right treatment and helps her handle the challenges of having arthritis, just like she handles other unpleasant things that come her way. It's how she approaches nearly everything in her life.
Despite a few occasional flare-ups, taking her daily and weekly medications has been the hardest part of having arthritis for Lauren. But knowing they play such an important role in keeping her feeling good and pain-free, she’s managed to turn anxiety into strength, making her family very proud. And from her strength, Lauren finds the desire to help and encourage other children who have to take medicine they don’t like, or fear the pain of a needle.

This is Lauren’s third year participating in the Jingle Bell Run. It’s always exciting to be surrounded by family and friends in Team FA LA LA, all trying to help so many children, and adults, just like Lauren.

Lauren is very excited to be the 2017 Long Island Jingle Bell Run Youth Honoree. With her family and friends by her side (and with bells on!) she knows she can make this her best year yet in support of the arthritis community.
Please join Team FA LA LA and help us raise money and awareness that kids get arthritis too!
Donate what you can, every little bit helps. And even if you can’t join us on the walk December 2nd, we’d still love to have you as part of Team FA LA LA and have you spread the word and help make this our best year ever!
Thank you.
Mike, Joann, Michael, Lauren, Andrew and all of Team FA LA LA!
