| I will be running in the Arthritis Foundationís Jingle Bell Run on December 2nd in Hemptead, NY. Please join me for the 5K (walking or running) or donate to support the Arthritis Foundationís important work to find a cure.|
This year, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease. I am grateful to say that through early medical intervention and the support of family and friends, the disease has been manageable and has not impeded my ability to live everyday life. It has, however, opened my eyes to those who are not as fortunate and who are tragically debilitated by arthritis in its different forms.
Arthritis is very common but is not well understood. Actually, ďarthritisĒ is not a single disease; it is an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions. People of all ages, sexes and races can and do have arthritis, and it is the leading cause of disability in America. More than 50 million adults and 300,000 children have some type of arthritis. It is most common among women and occurs more frequently as people get older.
Thank you so much for your continued support! While you are in the spirit of giving, please consider donating to a trusted organization to support Hurricane relief efforts for all of those who have been negatively effected by recent super storms. Let's stand with these regions as they rescue and rebuild!
